Gantry Crane MPI

Our BI-NDT certified Level 3 IRATA technician carried out Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) on a series of cranes as part of a planned programme of routine inspection and maintenance.

Using rope access techniques (IRATA), our technician was able to safely reach critical structural and load-bearing components, including welds, boom sections, connection points and other high-stress areas.

The MPI examination was performed in accordance with industry standards to identify any surface or near-surface defects, such as cracking, fatigue damage or other discontinuities that could affect the structural integrity and safe operation of the equipment.

This proactive inspection programme helps ensure continued compliance with maintenance requirements, supports asset reliability and minimises the risk of unplanned downtime.

 A full report of findings was prepared and supplied to the client.
