At the beginning of the 2026, High Peak Access Ltd completed various works across the entire 8.5 mile length of the Monsal Trail, from Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale to Bakewell, for the Peak District National Park, including vegetation maintenance, rock face scaling and catch fence installation, helping to maintain the cuttings and improve safety for all visitors.

We always value our involvement and enjoy supporting the UK's heritage sites. The Monsal Trail is somewhat different from 1898, once part of the Midland Railway line from Manchester to London (1863 to 1968), is today enjoyed by many who like to walk, cycle, run and enjoy the history of the site. From an abundance of wildlife, 19th and 20th century limekilns, to ancient seas, including fossil filled limestone and nature reserves looked after by the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust

Our team managed the project from start to finish, including all safety documentation and planning, liaison with other contractors on site, maintaining site closures, and completing detailed reports for each section along the trail.

High Peak Access Ltd is proud to work with the Peak District National Park in maintaining the trail today for all to enjoy.
